Frans Jonsson Klang born 26 Nov 1832 in Målilla, Kalmar län, Sweden.  Immigrated in 1853 at the age of 17 to Jamestown, New York and anglicized his name to Frank Jones.  He died at age 71 on 8 Jan 1902 in Randolph, New York.
Lena Lovisa Johansdotter born 18 Nov 1836 in Rättelsebo, Lönneberga Parish, Kalmar län, Sweden.  Her parents were Johan Larsson and Sara Cajsa Petersdotter.  They emigrated in 1851 sailing aboard the CAZONE from Gothenburg to Boston.  They then traveled to Warren County, Pennsylvania where they joined the family of Lena Lovisa Petersdotter (Sara's half sister) who had arrived with the first Swedish settlers in Chandlers Valley in 1848.  They adopted the surname Lawson (an anglicized version of Larsson) and Lena became known as Helen Louisa Lawson.  She died at age 79 on 8 Nov 1916 in Tres Pinos (Hollister), California.

Biography


   
  1. Frank Jones served in the US Navy on the USS Pontoosuc during the Civil War.  He enlisted 1 Sep 1864 and was discharged 8 Jun 1865.  He shipped out of New York City and saw duty off the North Carolina coast.  His ship was involved in the battles of Fort Fisher, Cape Fear River and Fort Anderson.  Several of his crew mates were awarded Congressional Medals of Honor for their valor when a shell ripped through the side of the ship and set the quartermaster section on fire during the bombardment of Fort Fisher.
  2. Frank Jones was a tailor and set-up his own shop in Randolph, New York after the Civil War.
